Bermudiana Beach Resort has appointed three Bermudians — Allen Walker, Deborah Leverock, and Donovan Simmons — as the senior management team as the South Shore, Warwick property prepares to officially open later this year.

A spokesperson said, “Bermudiana Beach Resort has appointed three Bermudians as the senior management team at Bermuda’s first branded condo hotel, as it prepares to officially open later this year.

“A 20-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Allen R. Walker has been appointed General Manager. He is joined on the senior management team by Operations Director, Deborah Leverock and Donovan Simmons, Resort Manager.

“Allen R. Walker has had a progressive career in the hospitality industry encompassing well-rounded experience and leadership positions in hotel operations, food and beverage and golf course operations.

“Prior to joining Bermudiana Beach Resort, Mr. Walker was General Manager of the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club. His earlier management positions were at the Mid Ocean Club and the St. George’s Club. In his new role, he will be responsible for daily resort operations, strategic direction and overall performance.”

“Being involved in the opening of Bermuda’s first branded condo hotel is an exciting opportunity. I look forward to implementing the upscale service standards of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand in Bermuda,” Mr. Walker said.

A spokesperson said, “Operations Director, Deborah Leverock is a seasoned professional having over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Ms. Leverock has held several senior level positions including General Manager of the former Grape Bay Hotel, Front Office Manager at the Belmont Hotel, Group Services Manager at Elbow Beach Hotel and Guest Services Manager at the Southampton Princess.

“Her roles at the Wyndham Bermuda Resort and Spa included Room Reservations Manager, Catering and Convention Services Manager and Acting Director of Catering and Convention Services.

“Ms. Leverock comes to Bermudiana Beach Resort from her latest post as Chief of Protocol with the Government of Bermuda. She is most excited to return to her first passion – the hospitality business, as well as encouraging young Bermudians to join the industry.

“Donovan Simmons, Resort Manager, has over 15 years’ experience working in the hospitality industry, which includes restaurant operations and luxury yacht operations.

“Over the past year, Mr. Simmons has been working with the Bermudiana Development Company Limited, assisting with project inventory and control. Mr. Simmons will be responsible for back-of-house activities including asset management, accounts, maintenance and security.

He said, “As a young Bermudian, I feel that I can bring fresh ideas and new concepts to the hospitality industry.”

The spokesperson added, “Bermudiana Beach Resort, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, will add more than 100 new hotel suites and rooms to Bermuda’s resort inventory via its rental program.

“These accommodations are flexible in design to target a range of visitor markets, from extended families to honeymoon couples, all at a mid-market price point. The resort will be marketed worldwide by Hilton’s international sales and reservations system.”
